How To Install Stonini 3d Wall Panels

Stonini 3D wall panels are installed non-mechanically using epoxy glue. There are following steps for a typical interior installation of decorative wall panels:

1. Measure the installation area
Measure the wall from the ceiling to the base and calculate the number of 3D panels required for each wall section

2. Use a laser level to mark the straight baseline, which is the guide for starting the installation. Rest the support board on the floor and use various size spacers whenever required to make sure it is levelled. The board acts as a support for the first row of panels

3. Start installing the panels from left to right. Make sure the 3D wall panes follow the pattern if the design is continuous. Before applying the glue, check if the panel doesn’t require cutting

4. Wait for the glue to set on the bottom row, continue installation and repeat all the steps on the upper rows.

What substrates can be used for installing 3D wall panels?

12mm MDF is recommended substrate for internal installation of decorative wall panels. The alternative substrate can include Standard Gyprock wall, cement render, block wall, plywood (without knots), FC Sheet and Studs. All substrate surfaces need to be smooth and free of any defects.

What adhesive to use for installing 3D wall panels?

In Australia, one of the best quality industrial adhesives available on the market is Megapoxy.  Megapoxy PM has a  45minute curing time which is enough to position the panel in place in various temperatures. Other industrial epoxies can also be used for internal use. A series of 10-12 Patches, 60-80mm diameter each are adequate per panel.

How to cut 3D wall panels?

Cutting is done with a panel saw with a sharp tungsten blade. Panels need to be cut upside down to avoid chipping and damaging the corners.
3D wall panels depending on the design do not appear seamless. Joins can be noticeable depending on the profile selected and on the installer’s ability.
Panels can be butt joined horizontally provided inconsistencies are acceptable to design requirements.

How to Join 3D Wall Panels?

Many 3D wall panel designs are best installed with expressed joints. Expressed joints can be combined with a flat bar on edge, recessed shadow space, c-channel with or without timer space infill. Grout or “No More Gaps” can be used with colour mixed in to match the panel colours. Extra care is required when touching up panels with smooth surfaces or shiny finish. The tinted filler should match the topcoat paint and be carefully applied.

Handmade Stonini 3D Wall Panels are a custom product. Variations and slight imperfections are part of the inherent nature of the product and may occur slightly in thickness and/or size. Large panels have some degrees of flexibility. Where walls are not plumb packing may be necessary.

Cleaning and Maintenance

Following the installation, any loose dirt should first be removed from the surface by vacuuming or brushing with the soft brush or dry cloth. Wiping with the wet cloth (lint-free) might be necessary if the panels have marks or stains from the handling. The cloth can be rinsed in warm water with a mild detergent. This should be followed by a final wipe down with a clean, dry soft cloth.
Never use solvent-based cleaners, aggressive detergents, abrasive powders which may scratch the surface.
